The local YMCA has many different activities in Gjakova, among other things operation of a secondhand shop with great support from Hardernes Y’s Men’s Club in Holstebro. This prompted the leader of YMCA, Gjakova and General Secretary of YMCA, Kosovo, to invite family and friends to start a local Y’s Men’s Club in Gjakova.

The members of the club come from different religious directions, and they all agree to show mutual respect for each other’s background. This diversity is no obstacle being together to be active members of the Y’s Men’s Club, which supports the local YMCA with building renovation and operation of the secondhand shop.

The charter of the club took place in a neutral venue in the local theater building, and was settled with the traditional ceremonies conducted by Past Regional Director Jens Nielsen, Vejle Y’s Men’s Club2, District Govenor Stoycho Sechanov, Plovdiv Y’s Men’s Club, District Bulgaria and Past Regions Arne Nielsen, Hardernes Y’s Men’s Club.

The needle award was carried out with the assistance of the participating Danish Y’s Men. The congregation sang “Amazing Grace” and Carl Hertz-Jensen from Vejle Trekanten Y’s Men’s Club prayed for club and the local YMCA work, blessing the participants, who then sang “Now thank we all our God”.

At the subsequent charter party, several participants held a speech and congratulated the club with the charter and handed over presents and banners. But before that, YMCA Secretary General Dorina Lluka, who was also the toastmaster of the evening, took the floor and surprised the assembly to call PRD Arne Nielsen, Hardernes Y’s Men’s Club. Arne was deservedly awarded YMCA Award for several years of efforts for YMCA Kosovo and the excellent corporation with the creation of the secondhand shop in Gjakova.
