Autumn greeting

Development of Diaconia. We are now approaching the coldest time of the year, - a time when we all need heat - both physically and psychologically - where both warm hands and hearts are needed.

We are now approaching the coldest time of the year, - a time when we all need heat - both physically and psychologically - where both warm hands and hearts are needed.

In Area Europe, I would like to think about this - and help those people who do not have a home, no friends, no care from others.

As Y's Men we have big goals and motto. From the beginning of the movement in 1922, we wish to build a better world for all mankind; we will work and perform our work on the basis of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

But what are the teachings of Jesus Christ?

We read in the New Testament, in the parables. Think of the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus tells in the parable that the priest rode past a wounded person lying in the ditch; this surely is a picture of "those who perceive themselves as righteous." A human being had urgent need of help.

We have many people around Europe on our own doorsteps, who need help from our side. Among other things. Many homeless people, just in this time, need a few warm hands and some people with warm hearts.

We should live up to "... building a better world for all mankind" and working on the basis of the teachings of Jesus Christ. We as Y's Men must step up now - and not be "The Pastor Riding By".

That's why I hope as Area President, that any club in Area Europe will open both eyes and mind, and make an effort for those people who need help.

Let's together show that

Y's Men help needy people in the area

Y's Men working together to build a better world

Y's Men show charity.

Therefore, dear Clubs in Europe, if you agree with me in this, look to see if there are people in your area who need food, clothing, shoes, warm blankets or anything else that can help them feel they are worthy people.

I know many clubs do a unique job for these people, and so I am proud to be part of a movement that has big goals - and that lives up to these.

You as a club are very welcome in the spring to send me, as Area President, a few words about how your club has worked with Diaconia in the winter of 2018/19.

If you have questions send me an email and I will reply as soon as possible.

I wish you all the blessing of God for your work in the future, and thank you in advance for your efforts.

Many kindly regards

Poul Henning Løwendahl
